Hello everyone! I wanted to start a forum for those applying to the ELMSN FNP or CM program at Samuel Merritt for 2025! I am currently applying to the ELMSN FNP in Sacramento which should be starting in January 2025. If anyone is also applying (either location) for the beginning of 2025 please reply and share any thoughts and questions! 🙂

Hi! I applied for the FNP Fall 2025 cohort and was wondering if you could share your interview experience. What types of questions were asked, and how was the group setting? Any tips on what to expect or how to prepare? I'd really appreciate any insight—thank you so much!
If anyone else would like to chime in, please do! Thanks again 🙂

Hi there! Have they reached out to you about the interviews yet? If you got a spot for an interview, my recommendation is to not over-prepare. You might get a different panel than we got, but generally speaking, you should just be creative and have fun! Honestly, there is not much you can do to prepare for this. You will probably have a group of 12 students for each interview, which will involve some group activity. Believe in yourself, because you know what you want. Good luck! ^_^

that really does help! I've been focusing on the tips posted on the SMU website but I was just confused on the group interview portion. what was your group activity if you don't mind sharing.
thank you so much! 🙂

Just get to know the other students... I can't really share much except it's best if you focused on teamwork and not personal attributes, if that makes sense. The tips on the website could pertain more to the Case Management track interviews, which I'm not so familiar with.
Let me know how it goes. 🙂

Hi! I had my interview for CM this week. Are you currently in the program? I'm wondering how the class schedule is. Any online classes? Is it on campus 5 days a week?

Hello! Congrats on the interview! Yes, I am in the program doing the FNP track. Class schedule for the first 4 semesters (pre-licensure) is dense, like 16 units or so. Both tracks will attend classes together for that portion before you split at semester 5. The attendance is all in-person but I doubt it will be 5 days a week. It is usually 2-3 very long days, not counting clinical days, which are scheduled separately later into the semester. You can expect some changes to be made to the schedule as things move along, but your faculty will work with your cohort on that.
Hope you'll hear the good news soon! Good luck!

I also had an interview for CM program and went well. When you say long days what times like 8am to 5pm? I'm just wondering because I'd prob have to coordinate child care. I know clinical can be morning, evenings or nights. Just wondering what time frame a typical day would be. Thanks!

Thank you so much for this info! Congrats on getting accepted, I'm sure you'll be a great nurse.

Congrats on the interview! Hope it went well. I think you will have ample time between enrollment and the beginning of school to figure things out. School days vary, so I would wait and see how your schedule will look like. In general, the fewer the school days in a week, the longer they will be. Good luck!

We heard back about interviews towards the end of September and apps closed August 1st. I think the turnaround is faster for Spring cohort because it starts sooner. So hopefully you guys hear back soon!
