Samuel Merritt University DNP (CRNA) 2025 Start

Updated:   Published

Hi guys, it looks like no one has started a forum thread for Samuel Merritt Universities 2025 start date yet so I thought I'd start one.

Not me picking up and answering 2 spam calls yesterday and today (one was in Chinese and one in Spanish) 😭 LOL. Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Thank you for responding! Congratulations on getting in as well! OK I'm just trying to get a gauge on if people got interviews with a lower GPA or if they just focused on higher GPA's. Previously they look at last 60 but they changed it this application cycle.

3.65 GPA from my MSN Entry in Nursing Degree, 3.9 Science GPA overall, and 3.79 GPA from my undergrad. 4 years of MICU/SICU/CVICU experience from large academic medical centers one of which is local to the school and has previously admitted a number of nurses from my unit. Chair of my UBC, preceptorship experience, active member of Diversity CRNA. I thought I stumbled a bit in my interview at the beginning just from nerves but I was earnest in my interest in advancing diversity in the field of nurse anesthesia and they seemed to like that I had already gone to grad school and understood the rigors of what a doctoral program might entail. Good luck! It's a grueling process but you just need one yes 🙂

Did anyone get a call today? (Tuesday the 18th)

4.5 years of critical care experience, at trauma level one centers WITH CCRN. Travel ICU experience with experience in all critical care units. Was involved in my UPC as a staff RN and helped create initiatives on my home unit. GPA 3.89 double majoring in BSN and additional major in spanish linguistics with graduation from my university's honors program. 2 research projects under my belt in both fields of study (language acquisition as well clinical lab research). 8 hours of shadow experience, active member of diversity CRNA, have attended CANA conferences as well as other CANA events, and have signed up for the ACE CRNA program (which has changed its name through the AANA).
As for the interview, I was honest about my intentions with the program and left everything on the table. I painted a picture of who I was, what I aspire to, and how I've led up to this moment. I also allowed myself to be vulnerable with the board, because it has every reason to how I've ended up there with them in that moment and why I decided to choose the path that I have. I believe I also asked very thoughtful questions that I truly wished to seek answers from professionals within the field. My questions weren't as much about the profession as much as they were about the professors. I genuinely wanted to hear feedback from all of the professors. Be you. Lay it all out on the table, respectfully. And don't forget that this is your chance to let your personality shine through. They don't want to hear about anesthesia. They want to hear about you and how you would like to tie your journey to the profession.
also don't give up. 4 interviews this year for me. 1 rejection, 1 waitlist, and 2 yes. All it takes is one yes. You guys got this.

Yea, same here. I wonder if they called everybody on Monday for acceptance...

It seems like everyone was called already. The fb page already has 17 people in it! I'm curious to see if 25 was a typo or if they are reducing the cohort size all of a sudden.
