A thread for those who applied for Spring 2025
Hi everyone!
I applied to the Spring 2026 term at the Sacramento campus, and I let the admissions counselor know I am open to the San Mateo campus as well. When I applied the deadline appeared to be set for July, now it's in November. So I guess I've applied very early. I was hoping to hear back by September, but I'm not sure that will be the case. I still have pharmacology and pathophysiology planned to be completed before the start of the program. I've also applied to other schools for next Spring just in case. I wonder if I might hear back sooner since I've applied earlier?
The thing is- I have been accepted to a direct entry MSN for NP Program across the country to start this September. I would love to start this fall. I've already deferred a year with this program in order to complete a chemistry class last year that I was not able to do in time, so the wait seems long. I was an alternate who did not get a spot at my community college last year, no luck there this year, and waitlisted for an ELMSN program this year. I am looking into costs for the out of state program I've been admitted to and the student debt would be exorbitant for 3 years; it's a very expensive east coast city. For this reason I'm looking into schools within the state, preferably that I can commute to even if the drive is long like it might be for SMU. The ABSN program is so appealing because it's only a year and living at home would save me a lot in student debt. I could decide to do direct entry PMHNP ( my specific interest) out of state and save some time, or I could wait and and see if I get into the ABSN or another program and be smarter about money, and go to NP school or something else later on when I've started earning a nurse salary. That is if I get into a school in CA. I wish I could find out sooner about the ABSN program. The wait is hard, especially if I won't hear back until November. Meanwhile, I will soon have to make a decision about a sure thing I have now, but potentially drown in student debt.

Got it, thank you. Will do! I still have to take 3 prerequisites this fall. I just figured I might as well apply early and see if I can get in. And how long did you wait after you applied to hear back?
