Hi all,

This thread is also located in the Pre-Nursing Students discussion board but I thought I might post it here too just incase :)

Was wondering if there are any other pre-nursing students out there waiting to hear back from SMU about Spring 2010 admission. Let's go through this agonizing wait together!

Omg i just got my letter and i got in!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

GOOD JOB BLUECHICK!!!

So I guess this is it. No more HSU for you :D I wish you the best out there and may someday, we cross paths :smokin:

As for me, I am still waiting for HSU's letter of acceptance/rejection this month and CSUB's in December :o:o. I'm still aiming for CSUB, but HSU's acceptance/rejection note will change the direction of my winds for the other schools that I will/have applied to.

Once again, CONGRATS!! Thanks so much for the other times you helped me out ;);)

YAYYYY thank you Solidus!

I'm also waiting to hear back from HSU. If I get in there, I'll be torn since it's just so much cheaper than SMU and the cost is really hitting me hard now. But I'm just THRILLED to have gotten in somewhere! :)

Congratulations! I'll be joining you too! Just got my letter yesterday along with two other friends. I'm so excited.

Now, I'm hoping to get all the details soon. I don't know when classes start, schedule, etc but I guess we'll find out soon. I'm debating whether or not to still work a little.

I'm pretty sure classes start Jan 11th. From what I hear (I have plenty of friends who graduted from SMU's BSN program and several who are currently in it!), it is NOT wise to work while attending. They say it literally consumes your life and they can't imagine even working once a week.

I'm glad you got in! Congrats :) See you at orientation!

Thanks. You seem to be pretty up to date on what's gong on. Do you know when or around the time of the orientation meeting? As for work, my work is fun and easy. it would actually keep me somewhat sane. I teach spin classes and other group exercise. It's pretty nice to get paid and train at the same time. So, I'm not thinking anything crazy but something to keep some sanity. I don't really know much about the scheduling of classes etc but hope to find out soon. It's going to be a great way to start the new year.

I don't know about scheduling classes either, but I do know that orientation for the fall 2009 class was less than a week before classes began, so probably the first week of January.

Hey I just found this thread. I applied to the BSN for spring 10, but haven't heard anything yet which I'm taking as a bad sign since I see they have already accepted some people. Do you know if they have sent out all the acceptance letters yet? I also applied to USF for the spring so hopefully one of them will work out, although SMU is one year shorter which would be nice!

Congrats for those of you who got in!

Keeping my fingers crossed. . .

Hi! I wouldn't worry. This is how it works: they sent acceptance letters out and gave us all a deadline to respond on our intent to register (November 20th). So a bunch of people are either 1) not going to respond and their spot will be given away or 2) will decide to not attend SMU for spring 2010 and their spot will be given away. Once they know how many more spots will be available, they will send out the next round of acceptance letters (and so on...!)

If you haven't heard back in the next couple of weeks, give them a call!

Congrats to all of you!!!

I don't know who you're friends are, but I'm a recent SMU grad and about half of the students in my class worked part time. It's very doable, although a little more challenging during Junior 2 and Senior 1 semesters. People like to talk about how hard it is, but it's really not.

Well, that's a pretty bold statement considering, of course, the ease of juggling a job (whether full or part-time) with nursing school is clearly different to each individual. It's also dependent on how flexible your work schedule is and how work-intensive your job duties are. I can speak from personal experience now and for me, sharing my time between my part-time job and nursing school has been very difficult, especially during weeks of exams.

I suppose it's also dependent on the individual's learning style. Some students go home and read chapter upon chapter each night in preparation for lectures the following day. Some put little to no effort into class day-to-day and leave everything until the nights before exams.

Anyway, clearly this issue is dependent upon multiple factors and the ease of it varies greatly between individuals. I'd have to agree that Junior II is the most difficult time to work part-time. Junior I had a lot of down time between exams (2-3 weeks?) and work was easy during those times. However, our semester had every exam for every class in the same week, so those weeks of working and studying were very intense.

Best of luck to everyone.
