Just wanted to start a thread for the students applying to this time frame! Deadline's around the corner. ?

Just found out I’ve been waitlisted for San Mateo April intake. Hope this doesn’t mean I’m out for June because there’s many people before me!

Oh wow that was so much sooner than Friday, congrats! If you don't mind my asking, where in the wait list are you?

I thought for sure I was out for April since they sent a batch of acceptance letters so long ago, but I guess there was movement on the wait list. I’m 9 of 11

congratulations to those who have been waitlisted and accepted!

I just received notification...I was not accepted. 2nd time applying, too.

Could anyone who was accepted share their stats please?

These were mine:

3.8 last 60 units

3.6 science GPA
87 on TEAS

10 years healthcare experience w/ Volunteer hours.

I know I can improve my TEAS score but still really discouraged. This is not a fun process ?

I think your stats are actually pretty good. I would try and look through your statement of intent and answers to the application questions to see if that could be improved. Maybe try taking the HESI instead of the TEAS. My gpas were lower than yours but I got a 92 on HESI and am on the waitlist.

Sorry to hear this. I have several years of health care experience, lower GPA than you but got 100% on science components of HESI and 92 in English. I also poured my heart out on my letter of intent pretty much saying I’ll keep applying until I get in. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.

Oh goodness, so sorry!! Your stats are great! Sorry you're so discouraged. Honestly, there's such a major shortage of nursing schools. Clearly so many qualified applicants.

Has anyone spoken to admissions counselors after being rejected to see what could be done to improve chances?

Thank you all. I used to work closely with Katharine who is amazing but she left. I’ve spoken to Derric a few times but to be honest he hasn’t been too helpful and extremely hard to reach. When you guys say letter of intent so you mean the essay questions? Sorry may sound like stupid question but I’m worried I missed something. I know I have room for improvement in my test scores and this cycle I worked so hard improving my essay questions. If anyone has any names of admissions counselors that they recommend, please share if you’re willing.

Good luck to everyone and thanks for the support!

Yes there were several essay questions in the application and they change them up a bit each time. When I didn’t get in last time I hadn’t written the HESI (because they waived it due to covid). So this intake my scores were new but they told me to take 1-2 courses with a B or higher in order to increase my GPA. That feedback was given to me in December so I haven’t completed any courses. I spoke with Anne Seed from the Sacramento campus - she was helping out as the SM advisors were swamped. She was very kind and helpful.

I’m so sorry to hear this but don’t give up! Third times a charm right?! Did you change anything in your application from the first time you applied? When I went to the virtual drop in the admissions counselor said they like to see applicants make new changes if I they didn’t get in the first time around, whether this be LORs, test scores, GPA, etc.

Don’t let this bring you down, you got this!

thank you all for the encouragement and support and feedback!!

I just checked my student portal and it says I've been admitted - crying so hard. Hoping it's not a mistake since I didn't receive an official email acceptance letter yet.
