Thought I would start a topic for those who are waiting to hear back about the SMU ABSN Peninsula-San Mateo Jan 2016 cohort. Good luck to you all!
Hi.
I called today and was told to email one of the two admissions counselors. I need to commit to my "Plan B" soon if I'm not admitted at Samuel Merritt. I could be generalizing here (so correct me if I'm wrong), but it seems that all of the people that were contacted last week were admitted and had no prerequisites in progress. I just finished patho and pharma a few weeks ago, and I have a communications course in progress.
At this point I'm hoping to be chosen as the token "over 30" student.
@KNB923 @violetkem : I myself did not have any classes in progress, but I believe that some people in the Sacramento cohort did have classes in progress and still got admitted or at least a waitlist notification (I could be wrong though). It seems very bizarre that they have not informed you of ANY decision whether it be admitted, waitlist, or rejection. I hope you hear something either way soon, and hopefully it will be positive!! :) They could be sorting things out still from the system error telling all the Sac people they were admitted to the San Mateo cohort. Let us know when you hear anything, pulling for you!!
I have noticed that all admitted did not have anything in progress. I was put on the waitlist but my prereqs are all done now. I just finished my communications course. I did email the admissions counselors twice with no response about steps moving forward. I don't think you are generalizing. All those admitted had all pre-reqs completed.
I got into San Mateo and I currently taking patho and pharm. But I know from talking to admissions that those two courses are the ones people usually still have to take when they apply. I did take a couple classes (communications, nutrition, and developmental psychology) that were over summer and they were not added to my application officially until like a week and a half before decisions came out.

I got in too! I thought I would post my stats for people looking at this topic in hopes to try and get into samuel merritt:
I have a BS in animal science from UC Davis. My overall gpa was 3.4 (3.44 after summer classes were added). My teas score was a 89.3% (81% for reading, 100% math, 91.7% science, 90% english). I have been a CNA for almost a year working home care. In my essays I also talked about my experience with animals since I have given shots, drawn blood, given ultrasounds, etc. My prerequisite science gpa was I think about a 3.9 (hard to be sure, some quarter some semester). My last 60 units was similar but a little lower (maybe 3.8?).
Looking forward to meeting everyone!
