Hi yall!

I got an invitation to interview as well!

Does anyone know what the statistics are for how many applied vs how many get interviews vs how many get accepted?

I have seen the standard number of class sizes approx. 30 and over 150 usually apply.

I saw where someone said something about the doctoral program? I was thinking that this would still be a masters degree? Or maybe this is the last masters class they are offering? Does anyone know?

Good luck everyone!

Afternoon! :) I definitely was under the impression that the DNP was the only option starting in 2018, but I think I will email someone to confirm because - now that I look at Samford's website again - it doesn't make it super clear if the MSN program is ending (that's just what other programs have been doing, so I just assumed). I'll let y'all know what I find out!

I agree that the website isn't very clear. They are still offering MSN for Spring 2018 in addition to the 1st DNP class starting May 2018. If you indicated on the application form AND your resume that you are applying for DNP then you would be considered for DNP, and you would be considered for MSN if that's what you indicated on the online application and your resume. I don't know if they will be asking us for our degree preference during the day of the interview (I am hoping they will)..

Thanks joysedso, BSN, RN! You're correct - I was told something similar when I reached out to my contact. How interesting! I wonder if they are interviewing twice as many people then seeing as there are seats to be filled in both classes? Wouldn't that be nice haha ;)

Hi All!! Any advice and tips on how to prepare for the interview? Does anyone know of someone who interviewed last year? And How was their interview experience?.. I know you've told me its laid back and its get-to-know-you questions but is there going to be clinical questions as well?.. I guess I'm just so nervous and kind of looking for guidance and reassurance....Thanks..

Congrats Joy!!! I did as well, for the masters (yippee!!)!! So exciting, see you had nothing to be nervous about! I apologize too, for some reason the site won't let me PM, but I saw that I had one from you a couple days ago. Are you doing the masters or doctorate?? Can't wait!!!!

Honestly, I was really impressed by how well-rounded the class members/candidates are!! In my interview session, we had people with PICU, cardiac ICU, SICU, neuro/trauma, float pool ICU experience etc. so, unlike some programs, I think Samford really sees the benefits in having people from multiple ICU backgrounds (i.e. they don't favor one particular unit over another). I did feel like they placed an emphasis upon academics/GRE scores, but overall, my feeling was that they truly are looking for future servant leaders in the profession - people who are going to give back, share wisdom, practice intentionally and compassionately etc.

me too, I was very impressed!! and once I started talking to the faculty I just wanted to go there even more!! I really feel like they have a great thing going compared to A LOT of programs I've seen on my extensive research... aaannd their students seem to be the happiest and most content!! (at least that's how I observed and I've talked to many SRNAs from different programs)... I decided to go for the DNP!! Congratulations!!

For those of you who have been accepted and plan to attend, a Facebook group has been created for the MSN class of 2020. Search "Samford Nurse Anesthesia Class of 2020" and request to be added. Looking forward to meeting everyone in January!
