Salem State Accelerated BSN Summer 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone - I'm wondering if anyone else applied for Salem State Accelerated BSN program for Summer 2016? I submitted my application, think start date for 5/18/16. Just wanted to start a thread to converse with others who are also looking to apply or have applied to the Salem State ABSN 2016 cohort.

I decided to start this thread in hopes of creating a place where others who are also interested in the 2016 cycle (or past students eventhough this will be theif first ABSN cohort but supposedly following their MSN track)can talk about the application process, GPA/Preq concerns, and basically offer support and answer questions!

Hey, i talked to someone in admissions and they say they will only accept 24 students. They don't ask for much so GPA is a huge thing for them. I hope I get in.

I hope so too, I applied in November when application was free. Re-took all my pre-reqs currently in Chemistry......its my first choice b/c of cost.

Hi All! I applied also. Do you guys mind sharing your stats? So we have a general idea as to what they are looking for? My pre-req GPA is 3.7 and my undergrad GPA is 2.8

I hope I have a good shot of getting in although my undergrad GPA is pretty low.

Good luck to everyone who applied! I've been checking my navigator account religiously and it recently said that the nursing department is reviewing my application.

Hi Mickey,

I hope to get in as well, my undergrad GPA is 3.03, Pre-reqs GPA is 3.7

For those who have applied, do they require chem I and II as a prerequisite? if so what is the minimal grade they require for both?

I saw that on the website but it doesn't specify if they require both Chem 1 and 2 with a grade "B" or better

When I went to their info session just 1 chemistry class with passing grade C within 7 years, but since they are the cheapest in town and space for only 24 students probably a B will be better in my view.

Hi all,

I also applied to this program, in addition to three Direct-Entry MSN Programs (NEU, MGH and Regis). Ultimately, I want to become a NP. I applied to this program last minute because completion of this program, followed by application to an MSN program, could ultimately save me about $40,000. The DEN Programs are extremely expensive. Does anybody else have a similar goal? I'm wondering if completion of an accelerated BSN program could at all hinder entrance to an MSN program?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I am interested in applying for Salem State's 2017 cohort. Did you get into the program? What was your gpa?
