Salem Hospital Residency Winter 2017

Published

Hi there! I know finding that first job is stressful and wanted to create a thread for Salem Health applicants to find and offer support. Has anyone received an invitation to interview yet?

Best wishes to everyone!

Congrats! Yesterday I received an email for one in critical care. Do you know much about their interview process?

No I don't, actually. I hear the first round is quick.

I received an invitation to interview with Women and Children"s Float pool! Looks like questions are probably going to be some like "Why do you want to work HERE?", "Tell us about a time you provided service oriented care.", etc. Probably basic character questions with unit specific situations sprinkled in. Let me know if you hear anything specific. Good luck!

This may be a silly question, but do all new graduates have to do a residency program?

A residency is not required. It's just easier to get into acute care through a residency because most hospitals will not hire new grads into a staff position without experience. It's not impossible, but just a bit more difficult. Residencies are nice because they give you extra education and support since nursing school does not really prepare you for the real world.

Hey mren0707! Are you interviewing tomorrow the 7th? I' m kind of wondering what the women's and children's float gig is all about. Does Salem have a separate women's health center? My interview is for tomorrow at 3:00. Hope all of s well everyone!
