Salary's in Houston Area

U.S.A. Texas

What salaries does RN's generally make in the Houston Area. Thinking about moving back to Texas from California. Currently work on an Oncology Unit with Chemo certification. I'm making about 34.00 on night shift, I also heard that the property taxes are expensive in Texas currently. What would property taxes cost on a home of 350,000. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

For salary questions, check out salary.com. I called several hospitals and only one of them gave me even a hint of what the very base pay for a new grad would be and it was like 23/hr in the Sugar Land area, so considering I'm not a new grad, I went up fromt there.

The tax rate is like 3.....something %; once you go to homestead it becomes 2.9.....something %. You definitely won't make as much in TX, but everything is a bit cheaper. And consider that a $350K home in TX is probably $700K in CA ($1-2 million in some parts of CA). So even though taxes are like twice as high in TX, houses are half as much, which balances out how much you end up paying in taxes.
