Salary request

Hi all.

I am an RN currently pursuing an advanced degree as an ANP. I have six years experience in nursing including ICU, ED, PACU, and a year doing supervision in LTC. I am going through the interviewing process for an Assistant Nurse Manager position. I have a couple of questions. What kind of salary should I ask for working in NYC, and what kind of questions should I expect from the CNO? Thanks.

Can't help you with the dollars part.

Is this somewhere you already work, or someplace new?

You want to know exactly what's entailed in the position. Some are largely administrative, others are glorified charge nurses with a few extra duties. Questions may include handling conflict, delegation, organization

Good luck

Do your homework. Research the institution.......are they Magnet, if so KNOW what Magnet means! Statistics, specalities, etc. Be able to speak to patient satisfaction, strategies to decrease LOS. Know a style of management that you would like to practice. Questions will be posed in a scenario manner, especially when dealing with staff and accountability. I always ask what are your strengths, your weaknesses and where do you see yourself in three years.

If you're going into this thinking your going to make big $$$$, sorry to tell you you won't.

Good Luck
