In your career as an LPN, how much has your salary grown over the years?
I have been an LPN since February of 2011. I first worked at a nursing home, and now work at a clinic. I make 50 cents more an hour at the clinic than I did at the nursing home, but of course there is no shift diff at the clinic.
2011 grad here. Well, I started at $18.50/hour ($0.50 shift differential for evening). Made it up to $20/hour in 2015. Moved to a different state and started at $18.50/hour again in 2016. Went to a clinic in 2016, had the "beautiful" 8-5pm job (not really beautiful to me) and got around $15.50/hour. ?
Just depends on where you go, what convenience of hours are worked, etc., etc... I found LTC to be challenging compared to the clinic, of course.

LPN’s in our area MAX out at <$17 in the clinic. I’m unsure for in-hospital though. That’s less than I started as a new grad RN. I think it’s despicable! They should pay LPN’s significantly better, IMO.
NURSE BANKS

Most of the comments sound like these nurses settled for less or lived in a small town with low cost of living!! I have been a LPN for 8 years (since age 21) and I started off at $23/hr (LTC) & $27 (agency). Now 8 years later I make a salary of $75k/ per year as a unit manager, which gives me opportunity to have another full time over night job making $32.00 per hour. I feel bad for those who are not living the life of a REAL NURSE!! FOR A NURSE (LPN) TO SAY THEY MAKE OR MADE CNA PAY IS LAUGHABLE! THERE ARE RNs making less than $20/hr also which is also sad. It’s even sadder when a LPN is working next to a RN making more than him/her! Know your worth regardless of your title???
