how do the salaries compare from hospital nursing Vs. Non hospital Nursing?

I have come to realize that it really depends on a lot of factors such as which department, experience, position, etc.; but on a whole from my experience skilled care and supportive living pay the best, then hospital and other acute care settings then lastly MD offices and clinics. Then again you can always work for a staffing agency and make out like a bandit no matter what your specialty is.
