Saddleback College Spring 2016

Published

Just put in my application this morning for the Spring 2016 semester at Saddleback College. Waiting for the acceptance/rejection letter at the end of September is going to kill me lol :nailbiting:. So I am reaching out to any and all that are applying and hoping to find out what every ones points are (I am only at 67 points so thinking I will likely end up in one of the pools). Hopefully we all get in!!! Does anyone know what the lowest point score was to get in for the last semester? I have heard that at times they have accepted all the way down to 63 points but I heard it through the grapevine and have no idea if it is true.

Also, as a side note, I am curious about the Teas V scores received (I scored 88.7%). Browsing through the Teas section on this site it seems like most people received 90% and above but considering the National and Program averages (64.3%) on the ATI printout that cannot be the case. I am just curious so you really don't have to reply to this bit it you do not want to. :)

Hi there, I applied this week (June 22) and I submitted my application with 70 points. I am currently taking Pharm (which means I can't add those 5 extra points). I've attended 2 information sessions and I've heard 67-73 is a safe zone for "possibly getting in" 74 and up is a lot more promising! :)

With 70 points I am positive you are getting in :) and it is good to hear that 67-70 is a safe zone for getting in. Gives me hope for getting in because I am also missing those precious 5 points for Pharm and planning on taking the class this Fall.

Just noticed today that the deadline for applications was extended til July 10. Curious as to why and what that does to the odds for getting in.

I noticed that too. They probably didn't receive the number of applications they expected, or the type of qualified applicants they are looking for. I could only think (hope) that this would mean we have a good chance of being accepted. :)

(it could even be purely experimental!)

11 weeks and 4 days to go.

Almost three months... waiting is always the hard part lol :nailbiting:

Hi, I will be taking the TEAS in October or so. I have been holding off for over a year because I am terrified of ending up with a score less that what I expect. I have taken all of the classes I can possibly take to earn points. All I have left to do is the TEAS which will determine my total points. I purchased the ATI Manual and the online practice exams and I have studied and studied over and over but I am still nervous. Is there any advise that you can give me as far as the difficulty of the exam? I am pretty aware of what I need to review but I need to score a 78% or higher for me to be competetive. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there,

It seems that you have prepared yourself well enough to get the score you want. The TEAS isn't as bad as I thought it would be and I took it this June. If you are generally an A/B student you will do great with the TEAS especially after taking all the pre-nursing courses.

I took the TEAS right in the middle of a transition where I was finishing up physiology, advanced medical terminology and starting summer school for two additional courses. The reason why I gave you my circumstances is because I had a difficult time finding the amount of time I wanted to allocate for studying for the TEAS (due to finals, new classes etc) The last week I tried to review the English and Math portion but that is because I have a degree in Biology and figured it was best to focus my review on my weak points.

The ATI manual will prepare you. Next thing is to identify your weaknesses and focus on that. The science portion can range from Chemistry to Physics, to Physio, Earth Science etc.. and so many people decide not to try to attempt to "master" the science portion because strategically it is a lot more difficult and time consuming than say the math portion or English/writing portions.

Lastly, remember to schedule it with enough time to get to the testing location, try eat breakfast before to help you stay focused, and walk in confident with a positive mental attitude.

(Hope this helps, if there is anything specific you're curious about let me know!)

Exactly what Honor said. It was not as hard as I thought it would be. I would also add that you should practice all the math long hand (no calc's allowed during the exam).

Good luck :)

Thank you both for responding.

I have A's and B's in almost all of my classes. Math can be difficult for me however the math section in the ATI manual is not too challenging...thankfully. What is throwing me off is the Science portion. I am trying to remember everything which is impossible. I reviewed Science about 3 time in detail and still cannot remember all of it. My biggest concern at this point is the English section. And for the Math section, were there several percentage problems?

thank you! :)

Hi everyone! Congrats on applying! I also applied for Spring 2016 and I'm getting a bit nervous waiting for the decisions!

I applied with 73? points, and with 800+ hours of work experience, so I'm not sure if they'll add the 8 points (N203? + work experience >1000 hrs)... I'm just hoping I have a chance of getting in! Best of luck to you all!
