Hello to all nursing students. Has anyone in the nursing program felt stressed working and going to school? I was working the weekends, only a few hours, but I still felt stressed, because I felt like I wasnt giving everything I had to succeed in this program. I decided not to work anymore, until I get through the program. I have friends who tried to do both , and neither one of them made it through, and my heart breaks for them. I have a relative who has been a nurse for a long time. Her advice to me, before I was accepted into the program, was if you dont have to work dont, because even though this would be a fun journey, it would taken all of you to get through it, because of the amount of dedication needed to succeed in the nursing program. I'm only in my first semester. I found out very quickly, what it was going to take. My husband has been very supportive throughout, and I'm thankful he has a good job. I feel like this is my chance to do it right the first time. I give my hats off to all of you who do work, whether by choice or circumstance, and still succeed. Has anyone else found themselves using their loans to help get them through school to keep from working, while in program? Again best wishes to all of you!

Your relative is spot on with great advice. Education has to be your priority right now, and if working jeopardizes your academic success, then you shouldn't work.

I am sure you probably have already done so, but I urge you to 'sacrifice' any expense items that are not absolutely necessary. Keep in mind that using student loans to pay for household expenses means that you ultimately could be paying $50 for that carton of eggs by the time your loan is paid off.
