Hi everyone!
I'm eager to open my ACCEPTANCE (please please) letter for the WCCCD program, but am trying to get some ducks in a row in the interim.
My mother and two aunts lavished me with wonderful presents during their last Michigan visit. They gave me four of those small (index card size) flip books and a dozen or so scrub/coat sets.
I'm extremely thankful for the flip books because they sell for $30 a piece at the WCCCD bookstore but I'm not sure about the scrubs. Are we expected to wear a certain color for the whole program; does it vary by semester; does it pend on where your clinical is?
They got me some green, violet, yellow and some with youth prints. I love them but I am on a very fixed budget - it'd be nice to start stocking up now if I can't wear their gifts.
Also, can someone clarify their guidelines as far as artificial nails, nail polish, hair being tied back, oh and facial piercings - I've had a small gold loop nasal piercing for nearly 20 years. I was an engineer prior to my return to school, so I'm used to removing it for work, but will I need to take it out for the program too?
If anyone can answer some/all of these questions I'd greatly appreciate it - and of course add anything of importance too!
Thanks!
Teresa

Teresa,
The program at WCCCD requires very specific uniforms for clinicals. They are not scrubs, they are considered white professional uniforms. The tops are button down with a collar and The WCCCD patch sewn on the arm. Also a name tag and white uniform pants. All white athletic shoes. Your hair must be pulled back and off your neck. No nail polish, no fake nails, no facial jewelry. No jewelry except one plain wedding band and one pair of stud earrings.
You can get the uniforms from different places but Marshall's downtown is where WCCCD recommends because they know the policies there.

This is the link for the shirts I have used so far in the program.
Unfortunately, you will have to wait until you get a job to wear your scrubs, and that's as long as they allow you to wear what you want there.
If you get accepted, they will go over everything at orientation, and you will have about 8 weeks to get everything you need.
Good luck.
