Hello all,
I'm planning to enroll in RVCC's nursing program--but doing some of the pre-reqs first. I know they have a bizarre system of requiring applicants to finish A&P2 by Jan in order to be in the next Fall class, but other than that does anyone have any feedback about the program? Good? Bad? I don't see much recent chat about it here. How are the profs? Good clinicals? Any comment would be appreciated.
Have a great day!

I loved the program. And as in subject there are good and bad teachers. I felt like the program prepared me to pass NCLEX and I felt comfortable in clinicals and the skills I gained during the program. The tests are hard and it is definitely NOT an easy ride. There were lots of people who failed out of the program. Some people who failed a class chose to come back and try to take it again. The majority of those who failed out did not come back. The majority of the ones that did ended up graduating the program. You can only fail one class and come back. If you do not pass two classes you are kicked out for good. However, the majority of the students who started the program did graduate... I don't want to sound like everyone fails!
RVCC did not have an entrance exam when I went but they were talking about adding one. I do not know if they did. It was required that you take a math exam before starting the program. If you passed then you were not required to take a math class. (Nursing math)
The reason they make you take A&P first is that the course work for the program itself it heavy. You would not want to be taking A&P during the same time as the nursing courses and they want you to understand the bones and muscle structures before. Also, A&P helps to weed out students. If you can't pass A&P then you do not even have any hope of passing the nursing program.
If you want to know any other particulars then message me and I will be glad to tell you. I really did like RVCC program and most of the people that graduated from there did as well.
