Rutgers Newark ABSN - Spring 2015

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello All!

I just received an acceptance letter for this program today, so I thought I would come on here and see if anyone wanted to connect. I'm really excited and can't wait for January :)

congratulations! do you mind sharing your stats?

Thanks, Jess! :)

My GPA was a 3.6 (including undergrad, grad school, and prereqs). My grades for the prereqs were 7 As and 1 B. I have a friend who applied in July when I did, and she hasn't heard yet either, so I am thinking they aren't necessarily sending acceptances all at once, maybe just as they go through the apps? BTW, it was a real letter, not an email, just so you know what to look for.

@MazzyStar Congrats! I received my acceptance letter last week. I'm excited and nervous at the same time! I just sent in my tuition deposit today. Have you done that yet??

Thank you! Congratulations to you, too :) I am also nervous, but really thrilled. I sent my deposit in on 9/26, and I haven't heard anything, so I just emailed today to make sure they got it (haven't heard back). I did the background check and the FAFSA, but I still need to get the medical paperwork filled out.

FYI: Classes start on 1/5. I had thought it was 1/20, but after scouring the site and emailing my advisor, I confirmed that we have an earlier start date for our program (maybe you knew but I had no idea!).

Also, I created a Facebook group for our class, because I am trying so hard to find others who are in the program any way I can: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1554191791466011/

@MazzyStar Thanks! Yes I found out about the earlier start date when I called as well. I feel like January will be here before we know it! I still have to complete my medical paperwork as well. I tried to look up the group on fb but could not find it :/ what's the name of the group??

It's "Rutgers Newark absn spring/January 2015 start"

Can't believe it will be so soon...

@MazzyStar Heyy I just requested to join the fb group. Have you completed your medical paperwork yet?? That's all I am missing at this point but I hope to get that filled out by next week! I haven't heard anything back from RU yet. Have you??

Hey!! Awesome :) I went for the first part of the PPD test today. Get it checked wed, then when I go for the second part, I'll get the blood titer tests I need and bring the papers. It's so much! I haven't gotten any more news, but I'm stalking the room reservation calendar multiple times per day to see if the TEAS, NALC, or orientation get added. My advisor said to check back in Nov for more info, so I'll email next week.

Still waiting on loan info and getting a little nervous about that!

Oh okk, that's great! You are on the ball! lol I know, there's so much to get done! It's making me a bit nervous. But I guess that since the application deadline was extended, we still have plenty of time. I'm still waiting on my loan info as well :/ have you prepared for the TEAS? And do u plan on attending the open house on Nov. 19??

I am hoping the same thing re: later deadline! I haven't prepped for the TEAS, but I'll probably review the science. I don't plan on going to the open house bc I went to an info session last summer before I started my prereqs, and I have a feeling it will be similar. Last year, the TEAS was given on 11/12 and 11/19, so hopefully we'll at least have more info by then!

Hey,

I am looking to apply to the Rutgers program in the near future and also from JC.

I was wondering what you did for some of the prereqs: it seems like a lot especially compared to other schools, some with better reputations that ask for less. For example, with "Interpersonal communications", unless you're a comm major it seems that you need 2 other prereqs just to take the prereq.. Is that your experience? Like wise with organic chem--prereqs to take a prereq.

Also, how long did you spend to take all of the prereqs?

Thanks

E
