Rutgers ABSN graduates

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone,

I'm a pre-nursing student currently completing my last semester of pre-requisites before apply to ABSN programs in NJ. I graduated from Rutgers-Newark, so I'm hoping to join their program in the Fall of 2015.

Im looking for some help from anyone currently in the program or anyone who's graduated from their program in Newark. What exactly do they mean by "14 month program"? They have the curriculum broken up by 4 semesters, so is it 2 fall semesters and 2 spring semesters, or is it 14 months straight, no break in between semesters? I can't seem to find information on that.

Any other thoughts on their program would be very much appreciated! Thank you.

It's 4 semesters, if you count the summer as one. So I'm starting in Jan and will do spring, summer, fall, spring...Jan 2015-May 2016.

Not sure yet what breaks will be like because the program deviates somewhat from the main Rutgers calendar. For example, we start Jan 5, not the 20th when the rest of RU comes back from break, and I was told it's not yet been finalized as to whether we get a spring break. I hope there are 2-3 weeks between semesters, though (which would make sense if it's supposed to be 14 months of instruction but spans more like 15.5 months on the calendar).

I see, thank you so much for replying! I'm glad to hear this. And, congratulations on being accepted to the program!

Thanks!! Good luck to you.
