Rural/remote contract work

I’m currently in NZ but looking at maybe doing some contract work next year in Australia. (Depending if covid is more under controlled)

the work interest me, as long term I want to specialise in rural healthcare. Plus I’m dying to travel again. 

I was looking at doing this in 2020 pre covid, but obviously that didn’t happen. 

anyone here whose done contract work? Pros cons? What’s the accomodation like? The money? Or even just sharing there experience.
