Rude Interviewers - Common?

I am wanting some feedback regarding job interviews that you have experienced. I've been on quite a few, but this last week was the icing on the cake for me. It started out when I was in the waiting room; this man opened the door and pointed his finger at me, motioning "Come with me." He then said "Down the hall, 1st room on left." I entered the room and there were 2 women sitting there. I said "Hello, I'm _____, and extended my hand. Netiher women looked up, and just said "Take a seat." They then told me I would be asked a series of preformated questions and graded on a scale of 1 to 5 on how I answered. No nice to meet you, tell us about yourself, nada. The man just seemed really ****** off about being there. I answered the questions to the best of my ability. At the end they asked me if I had any questions, I asked a couple. They then said "The interview is over, we will contact you if we are interested." They did not look up, nothing. I said thank you and left. I thought the whole interview was just awful, but maybe this is the norm now.

I'd appreciate any feedback. This interview was for a County job, outpatient psych RN.

I had an interview and the interviewer was late and when we got to her office she ate her lunch throughout the interview. Awkward

At another interview I finished with the manager and she set up a quick peer interview on the spot. The two nurses doing the peer interview looked totally annoyed I was there and just came off as ******

No it doesnt sound very normal.. Most travel job interviews are conducted over the phone.

Being on the recruitment side of things, it disheartened me to hear about your experience. Interviews are not just a one way street. Too often now, with the state of the economy, employers believe that they have too much of an upper hand. This sadly has lead to events like the one you experienced. Interviews are a two way street. You are interviewing them too. From what you said, I would seriously question working there. If this is how they treat a potential employee, how do they treat there actual employees. Hope this helps and best of luck!

Ask yourself....is that the kind of environment/people you want to work with. If your answer is no...move on and don't settle. You too must be interviewing them, with a set of criteria that meets your standards. Time for some basic visualization to get what u want. Start by writing down what your work environment would look like, what type of people will u be working with, what's your day like, who are you being on the job, how are u making a difference with your patients, how are u growing as a nurse........add to it daily and get focus on what you want!

I always approach a job interview as a two sided event. They interview me to see if I fit their needs and i interview them to see if they will fit my needs. From your description, I hope you didn't answer the phone if they called to offer a position.

From your interview from hell, I would never want to work there. In the words of Maya Angelou, when someone shows you who they are, believe them. Red flags!!
