RRT position

There is an RRT position that will be opening soon and I am trying to decide wheather or not I should apply. I have 3 years nursing experience. The hospital is small maybe 110 beds? I have been at this hospital the entire three years. My co-workers say that I would be great at it because I am a team player I'm very appropriate with everyone. I love teaching and I love figuring out what to do in a critical situation. Although i do have some doubts that I have enough experience to do this job. Any feedback would be GREAT thanks!

If you want to apply, go for it... The worst that will happen is you don't get the job. I think that what is important is where you had your three years experience. Was it in critical care? I imagine you would need to be confident with assuming care of a critically ill pt in case you need to transport to a test or an ICU. A rapid response team might not be the best situation to first learn how to titrate pressors or manage a vented pt. If you already have the critical care skills, another consideration might also be who else is on the team, i.e. what roles, and what kinds of responsibilities fall to the RRT nurse. If you have been in critical care for three years then go for it. The worst that can happen is you wont get the job. You will never know if you don't apply.

I applied for RRT after 6 years of critical care experience in a neuro ICU. I seriously didn't think that I would get the job. I did. I love it.
