Why is it that all of my teachers, and people that I personally know in the Nursing field, are all saying the job market for RN's is slim, and a lot of hospital units are being replaced with RPN's, yet when I search RPN jobs online, whether it be Job Bank, Workopolis, or each hospitals individual webpage, there is close to ZERO RPN positions, and A whole bunch of RN positions?
Even the past few hospitals I did clinical at were all pushing RN's out, and a lot got laid-off, reduced hours, yet there's no postings for RPN's?
Am I missing something?

You know, I've been hearing the same thing. I will be starting the rpn program in september. I've been hearing that a lot of rns are getting laid off and being replaced by rpns b/c the rpns pretty much do the same work as the rns and get paid less. Could someone please shed some light on this? Thanks for bringing it up.
I literally did a search at each individual hospital in Toronto & found ZERO RPN job postings on their websites.
Oh & Trillium had all but ONE RPN position online, lol.

What's the pay rate like there?
No idea. What ever the union decides I guess. I'm an RN so I don't know RPN wages.
