Hey everyone,

I got a letter of acceptance from RCC ADN day program for fall 2010 today. I am very excited but am torn between another program...I won't go into details, but RCC wasnt my first choice, but now that I got in i'm confused! I went to an information session and got my basic questions answered. But my biggest question to all RCC graduates (or current nursing students), I would like to hear your feedback on the program. Are you satisfied? What do you like and what do you dislike? How are the professors? Is the program challenging? Basically I would like to know RCC students (and graduates) level of satisfaction with the program and dont be afraid to be 100% honest. It will help me out A LOT with my decision. Thanks SO much in advance for your replies!!!!!

Congrats. I will be applying to this school (as well as many others) for the Fall of 2011. Based on your experience, was this a difficult school to get into? Did you do well on the TEAS and your prereqs?

Sorry I can't answer your questions. The school seems to have a pretty decent reputation on here from the searches I've done.

It's competitive. I went to an Info session and they get a few hundred applicants for the nursing program. They mainly look at your TEAS score, then they factor in ore-requesites, other coursework, and GPA. I studied for over a month for the TEAS and to be honest I didnt do as well as I expected. I didnt do badly, for not fantastic either. I have a high GPA and have all my course work done except Microbiology and the core nursing courses. As long as you have all your pre-requisites done, a good GPA and a good TEAS score you should have a good shot at getting in. Good luck.

Thanks for the info. Which section of the TEAS gave you trouble?

Surprisingly the Science section. There werent many A&P questions which was disappointing...there were more physics, chemistry, and general science questions, geology...like questions about rocks and volcanos and earth plates...i didnt do well on that section unfortunately....

Yes I've heard that about the Science section. People have said that you really need to brush up on intermediate school Science before taking the test.

Specializes in Public/Community Health.

I graduated may '07 from the full time day program. I loved it. It wasn't easy by any means, in fact very challenging, I learned a tremendous amount. Had some of the best clinical experiences at major city hospitals. I would highly recommend this school.

Thanks so much NayNaeRN!! I am really excited about starting in the fall!

Hello,

I will be starting the Fall 2010 nursing program with you as well. Do you mind if I ask where you completed your pre req's prior to applying to the program?

Nursewebb,

I did my pre-requisites at quincy college and a couple at massasoit. =)

Does anyone know if the application review board at all the 2 yr nursing schools consider the fact that you are taking another A and P 2 during the semester of the application? I am taking A and P 1 now and earning an A, but i still have to take the other 2 sciences, whihc I plan to do one in the spring and one in the summer. Im hoping to get into either massasoit, mass bay, RCC, or brockton hospital with my GPA of 3.7 from my first Bachelors degree at Umass Boston. And the Teas test I think i will score fairly good, but not in the top percentiles. I am a very slow test taker! Think I will get rejected? Myabe next year will go better? any advice? Thanks so much for anyone who can help

Well that depends. For example, I was taking Microbiology during the semester I applied to get into Roxbury CC, and I was accepted into the Spring 2011 ADN program. I still hadn't completed A&P II when I applied - I am taking it now, along with the program, but need to complete it with a grade of C or better this semester or I won't be allowed to continue in the program, because A&P II is a requirement for the next phase of the program. It just depends in what the requirement is for the semester you are entering. I hope this answered your question, if not, please let me know :)
