Rotating shifts as new hire

Published

I’ve been a nurse for 5+ years. Worked surgical floor for about 7 months, transferred to wound care for 4 years days and now I’m at endoscopy working 5 days/week with call once a week and every 6th weekend. I do not like call. I interviewed for Antepartum in November last year then second round of covid hit and they went on a hiring freeze. They just called and offered me a position but it’s rotating shift, nights and days throughout the week, not one week nights, one week days, etc. I believe they do have straight night shift also, but the manager said normally doing the rotating shift you’ll get to days faster, normally within 6 months you may have just one night shift a week. I’m shadowing next week night shift just to talk to some of the nurses and see if that statement is true before I accept. When I first started out I was on nights and it wasn’t my favorite. My kids are older now, teenagers, so Not as much going on at home. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. If the manager is telling the truth and by 6 months less nights should I accept? Thanks ?
