I read in some of the older threads that there are nurses in the forums that used to work at Rome State School. I'm hoping that I can ask a few questions of them.
I have found a person who, according to the US census was at St Mary's Orphan Home in 1930. The 1940 census shows that she was in Rome State School for Mental Defectives 1935 to 1940 and probably years beyond that. 1950 census and newer are not available at this time.
I will share in a PM my reason for asking
My questions:
When did the Rome State School cease to be a facility for those with mental disabilities?
At that time, were patients moved to other facilities or would any have simply been released?
If a patient received dentures while living there, was their name put on the denture plate (I know this is an odd question but I do have a good reason for asking)?
Are there any nurses here who may have been working there in 1972 or prior?
Thank you in advance.
