Hello!
First of all, you have to apply and pass the the CGFNS exam, which is a requirement for licensure by the specific State Board of Nursing- NCLEX- RN
At the federal level, the CGFNS Exam satisfies the examination requirement of the VisaScreen: Visa Credentials Assesment for immigration. This allows you to become a legal immigrant with working visa.
If there you already are a legal immigrant and living in the USA, you can bypass CGFNS and follow the State Board of Nursing requirements.
Mainly you need
1)your school transcript evaluated by a credentialing company recognized by the specific state board
2)Toefl
3) CGFNS exam if you want to immigrate (working visa)
4) 1 year minimum experience as a nurse.
Only do the CGFNS exam if the state requires it. Most states do not, they require CES report which is a breakdown of your nursing transcripts. CGFNS exam is also not a requirement for immigration visa.
Process is is select state and check out their requirements for International trained, apply to state meet requirements and pass NCLEX. Then find employer willing to go the immigration route and get them to submit I140 and then wait for the date of approval to become current (PD) as that date gets closer to be current, but be aware PD goes backwards as well as forwards, then apply for your visa screen certificate with CGFNS so you have it ready, it is valid for 5 years. English exam is not always required by the state but it is required for vsc and can be ielts or toefl.

Hello everyone!
My name is Alexandra I'm 23 years old and I am from Romania. :)
In August I'm graduating the post secondary school. I want to know which are the steps for being a nurse in USA?
Wich is the best:applying to a recruiting agency or finding myself a post into a hospital?
Thank you for your time !
