Hello! My dh just accepted a job offer in Rockford, IL. I have 100 credit hours from moving so much, and only need micro as a pre-req for any nursing program.
I wanted to finish my BSN (I am not an RN) since I am equally close as with my ASN and I was thinking about becoming a NP someday.
But I have heard some good things about Rock Valley College's program. I need something that goes few days a week or offers night/weekend courses. I have 3 kids and dh is a professor, so I can not afford all day daycare M-F!
Does anyone have any good recommendations for nearby nursing schools or any reviews of the local hospitals for me to look into? I was thinking about working back as a CNA until I could start (hopefully!) a nursing program in 2008.
TIA!

I just recently graduated from the LPN program at Rock Valley College. I think we ultimately went to school 24 hours a week up until the end when we did alot more clinical hours. Then it was four days a week. I'm not sure about the RN program. I do know that alot of mom's manage to do it with a husband and children. How, I don't know. I went with two young boys and it was only for 1 year and I about lost it. I did my pre-req's one class a semester. I do know that most of the nursing instructors are very good and nice.
For your other question, Rockford schools, lets just put it this way...My husband and I just moved to South Beloit at the beginning of the last school year because Rockford schools leave alot to be desired. We were either going to do private or get out of that school district. The cirriculum stinks because they do that no child left behind teaching and basic reading, writing and arithmetic doesn't exist because to many kids are having a hard time getting it. But that is just my personal opinion of Rockford schools.
Good luck with your transition to Rockford and welcome.....
Thanks! Yes, I have heard a lot of horror stories about the schools there. We are homeschooling now, and I was thinking about just getting my oldest into daycare with the youngest when I am in school and homeschooling her at night.
