RNAC salary

I am curious as to salaries for RNAC positions after attending a training session today for the 10/01/11 pps schedule change. One of the changes will require yet another assessment called the change of therapy assessment. It was estimated by the rehab company presenting that this assessment will take approximately 62 minutes to complete and cost $32.86 in staff time. This figure was derived solely from the rnac time to collect, enter, submit and validate the assessment. This would make the average national salary >70k per yr. I make $30 per hour and work in PA. Appreciate some feedback.

Geesh! I simply do not have an extra 62 minutes per week per patient to do this! Oh my stars, I don't think I am paid enough anymore for this job! In answer to your question, I live in the central Texas area and am paid appx $35 an hour. Before the newest changes I thought my wage was quite resonable! LOL

funny, i've been thinking of relocating to houston since my son moved there. i make just over $29/hr and live in NC. i don't mind the assessments, i don't mind making rounds, being in meetings and part of the team. what frustrates me is.. for example tomorrow i have morning mtg, appox 1 1/2-2 hrs, 3 action team meetings, they will run from the time morning meeting ends until 2:00, last time right through lunch while the DON left and came back in the room with hers. (we eventually did the same) care planning is supposed to start at 1:20, a few extras were added both families have concerns, they are at 4pm and 6:30pm.

what is wrong with this picture? i haven't even completed the assessments we're supposed to careplan tomorrow. my coworker is at an AANAC certification program for 3 days, so i had the QA&A mtg that i didn't know about, couldn't find where anything was done for it, and truely think my friend forgot about. she already worked Sat and Sun. I used the form, did as best i could with what i had, but that took time, then in the mtg was asked about something else. of course. NHA and DON seem to want to have all their boxes filled in, but at whose expense? if i don't go, they get mad. if i don't get my work done i'm in trouble with everyone. now they are cutting staff and one of our facilities close by, about the same size had thier MDS positions cut from 2 full time to 1 and a half time. Our software doesn't have checks built in, doesn't populate help with CAAs or careplans, so we must batch, transmit to another entity, relookat, correct if needed, resubmit, submit to state, submit to another entity, go back to state to get transmission results, then back to our software to accept. By the time i get some of the assessments back, i have no clue who the person was. there is a lot of wasted time, energy and money i believe with trying so hard not to miss anything we lose precious time that could be used to get the assessments completed correctly, really getting to know the person and their needs and how to make things better. our company hires 17 people to look over one ....sorry, had a long bad day. also, i have 23 yrs nsg experience and over 10 yrs off and on in MDS.
