Could RN's comment on how many of you supervise LPN's in an inpatient setting? Do they give insulin? What is your agency's practice on giving insulin- do 2 RN's check, 2 licenses check? or other? Thanks for your feedback:)

I'm not an RN yet but at the facility I work, I double check doses with the RN and not with another LPN.

I am a LVN and have never been required to double check insulin in an healthcare setting, except when I was a student.

At most facilities in Hawaii it is standard to have insulin double checked with 2 licenses. However, in the ER/ICU setting, it is often given without hunting down for someone to double check because of the nature of the setting.
Thanks for your response.
