You can apply for your license in any state and take the NCLEX anywhere you want. You just need to go to that's state's nursing commission to see what you need to do. States vary on what is acceptable forms of ID for the NCLEX... ie some require the state patrol to take your fingerprints others require a recent passport picture. Of course the fee's are always different as well. Hope this helps.
Thanks to both of you for the info... I'm sure I'll learn all this in a few months when I start, but I'm trying to figure some things out.. So, if you are a non-nurse, you can graduate with a BSN and then take the NCLEX later? What I'm asking is, graduation isn't contingent upon passing the NCLEX? Thanks again.

If I were to obtain my BSN in PA, and immediately move to a different state for my first job - how would I go about getting licensed in a second state? Does sitting for the NCLEX render you licensed in a particular state? Should I even register in PA if I tend to work in a different state? You may be able to tell from my inquiries how clueless I am about this matter... so anyone who can sort through my questions and give them a shot, I'd appreciate it!
