RN Requirement Changes

The program I have been wanting to apply to since last year just changed it's requirements for this Fall's semester. The only requirements are now STNA and a 75 on the HESI A2. Are there any opinions as to why this changed? Because previously, the requirements were HESI, A&P, Human Development, microbiology, two pre-nursing courses, and english and math as well as a 2.8.

I am thinking maybe it is changing because my local hospitals are starting to only hire BSN RNs and so this program is becoming less competitive because pretty soon it won't be a good idea to go the ADN route.

It's just really annoying because I've taken almost all the previously required courses and they're now immersed into the program as opposed to being pre-requisites. It also looks like they cut down on the amount of nursing classes.

Think of it this way: if you get accepted, you won't have to take those classes along with your Nursin classes. It could be a blessing in disguise

You're right! I just kind of feel like I'm being cheated, with the curriculum being shorter. It doesn't make sense to me

They may have combined some of the classes. Requirements are set by the BoN and the schools have to meet those requirements. You won't be cheated. And having all those classes out of the way could very well help your chances at getting accepted into the program[emoji2]
