Rn Relocating To Shreveport Area..help!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm going to be relocating to Bossier City/Shreveport area the end of Sept. 07. I have contacted a few nurse recruiters and found out some of the pay offered and etc. What I need from you all as nurses working in that area is advice on the best facility to work at.

I am not as interested in pay as I am working conditions ie: pt. ratios, management, things of that nature. I have worked as an LPN for 2 years and RN for 2 yrs in med/surg. I would love to change my specialty, as I think that 2 yrs. of med/surg after RN graduation is enough to give me a start as an RN.

If anyone could provide me with any information on Christus Schumpert, LSU, Willis Knighton..that would be great. Those are the main hospitals I have contacted thus far. If you know of any other facility even if it's not a hospital, I would love to hear from you too!!

I am currently waiting for my endorsement. All my paperowork has been sent in, hopefully it won't take longer than the end of Sept. I would hope to have my LA license by the time I get down there.

Thank you all so much in advance!

Hi,

I lived in Shreveport several years ago, but I was not a nurse at that time; however, the most popular hospitals are the Willis Knighton hospitals -- either the Bossier City location or the Pierremont location in southeast Shreveport. Both are very nice facilities with good reputations.

Good luck. We loved living in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi! We lived in Shreveport/Bossier several years ago and loved it. The food is outstanding and the people, for the most part, are very, very friendly. I had my son at WKBossier and couldn't have been happier with the care I received. Then, when he was 4 he got bit by a spider in a most inconvienient place and had to be hospitalized for 4 days at WKPierrmont. Again, superior nurse care especially the pediatric nurses. They were just awesome and truly seemed to be very happy working there. I think it was then that I really, really started considereing changing career fields to nursing.

I wasn't a nurse then, nor am I now, but I am a nursing student and if I returned to the area I would feel comfortable working at any of the hospitals there as they all have excellent reputations. One of my best friends graduated from Northwestern many, many moons ago at worked at what was Bossier Med. Center (I think they are an outpatient clinic or even a psychiatric hospital now...i don't know) and liked it. She then went on to work at the VA and loved that. I think your pickings will be abundant. Enjoy Shreveport/Bossier, its a great place to live.
