Hello there,
Orange Regional Medical Center requires new RN to take a RN new hire pharmacology exam for medical surgical. If anyone has taken one of these before, could you please share your experiences and any resources that you have used? Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you so much!

Is it the NLN basic medication proficiency test? I just had to take that one for my externship. They gave us a study guide for it but it wasn't too bad. I got a 98% overall first try - they said like 75% of people pass it the first time.
@Rionoir I'm not sure. They gave a study guide showing the items numbers for each area like administration, med handling, etc. They also provided a broad list of drug categories like antibiotics and cardiac meds and nothing specific. Does that sound familiar? Did you use any guides to study for it? Thanks!
Yea that sounds like the same test. They gave us a study guide but it was 65 pages long - basically just all the common drugs and their most common side effects. It's hard to study specifically for the test, but if you just make sure you can identify what the drugs are on the list they gave you by name and what class of drug they are you should be fine - there was nothing really off the wall. You need an 80% to pass if it's the same test, and math and admin and side effects are all scored individually then factored together.
I see. Was it a written test? How many questions were there on yours? And do you by any chance have the 65 pages study guide? Or where to find it? They just give me the one page with the number items. Thanks!
