When I was active duty enlisted I took courses online at my old college too, and I really didn't have an issue with residency because I explained my home of record and military service. You might want to see if your school would have the same considerations for military members serving abroad.
I understand the costs though. It would cost me full tuition plus half if I were a non-resident, and that's pretty good compared to other universities.

I am currently an active duty nurse and I have 2 years left of my obligation. I have not totally ruled out signing on for more time but as of right now I'll probably be getting out. I do however want to use my remaining 2 years working towards my MSN part time through an online program. I would like to get my MSN in Nurse Education through the University that I got my BSN from. They do have a completely online program but I am no longer a resident of the state (My home of record is there through the Army but its my parents house and I don't live there).
Do you know of anyway that I can get in-state tuition rates even though I am not currently a resident and I am not stationed there? I plan to use a combination of the GI bill and tuition assistance to pay for my courses. I plan on returning to that area when I get out and would like to teach at the University which is why I want my MSN from there.
Also, the chances of deploying in the next two years are kind of high. Has anyone tried to do course work while deployed??
