I am interested in UMD's Rn-Msn program but their website doesn't have alot of information on it.I am currently a nursing student at a cc. By the time I finish with my asn-rn I will have completed all of UMD's prerequisites. I was originally thinking of doing their rn-bsn program. The rn-bsn and rn-msn take around the same amount of time to complete. I want to eventually become a CRNA after getting the ICU experience.
Can anyone tell me a little more information on the rn-msn program.
or how would I go about becoming a CRNA if I did a the rn-msn vs. the rn-bsn
If you live in the area, I would strongly recommend attending one of the SON's information sessions or their open house. Actually, their fall open house is on November 15. They just sent me a postcard in the mail, so that's how I know about it.

I attended one of their information sessions this past summer and I found it very helpful. The program admissions director was there, did a powerpoint presentation about the program, entry requirements, financial aid, etc., and then spent quite a lot of time answering questions. All in all, it really was a very nice program.

You would have to go through the same steps to becoming a CRNA regardless of the program that you choose. You would still have to get the same experience in the ICU after graduation.
I forgot to mention that at the info. session that I attended, the admissions director said that having a MSN before applying to the CRNA program DOES NOT increase your chances of getting in to the program.
Just some food for thought...
