RN with an MPH job?

Nurses General Nursing

Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Masters in Public Health with an RN title? I am considering doing this, but I want to have an idea of what the job opportunities are before I invest all that money and time?

What is the job prospect? Is it similar to nursing with lots of jobs or limited jobs? Does the job opportunity depend on specific things like experience? Are there lots of jobs in California in this field?

Please help me out! Thanks.

RN MPH is a popular combination for infection control nurses. I have only gotten as far as a graduate certificate in public health at the University of North Carolina. I want to finish the MPH, but it is so expensive. As the MPH degree is not nursing-specific some employers that offer tuition reimbursement or loan repayment won't pay toward a MPH.

As far as learning goes, I think an MPH is a great program for nurses. You learn about populations of people rather than individuals. Epidemiology and Biostatistics are part of all MPH programs which can be challenging.
