I am not a Medical Representative but I have friends who have tried to be one while waiting for the results of the NLE last 200_.

First, there are so many companies in Manila that are continuously hiring Medical Representatives. Before you get hired, there's this training phase where your knowledge and skills will be assessed. The training phase also serves as a tool for screening the applicants, and those that will pass the screening will then be assigned to a certain pharmaceutical company.

As a "med rep", you will be given a number of products (whether meds or medical supplies) which you will be endorsing to different firms such as hospitals, laboratories, etc. You will be given a specified area to "cover" or endorse the product you are assigned with. Easy at it may seem, but then you have to know your product well so that you can convince your clients to buy them. Actually, when you are endorsing medications to doctors, they will not be buying your product. Instead, they will try to prescribe it to their patients. You will be given a list of clients to cover in an area.

Medical Representatives travel a lot, so there's this transportation allowance that is given to the employees. There are also quotas to achieve to get higher incentives from the employers. I know many of you know that sometimes, senior med reps are given/lent cars instead of transportation allowances.

So that's it. I know those who have been Medical Representatives themselves can share more. I've never been one myself. =)

thanks dodoy now at least i learned a thing or two ...thank you very much
