RN licensing with Massachusetts BON

Does anyone have an idea of how long this will take? I passed NCLEX on 5/3. The Mass Licensing website states a nursing license should show up in 3 business days. I called as it's been 6-7 business days and was informed it could take 4-6 weeks for a new license to show up as they have to go over the test and contact references.

I do not remember listing references -does anyone else?

Will it really take 4-6 weeks?! Other recent passers from other states have been saying it shows on their states BON website in 24-48 hours! Good ol' Massachusetts.

did they think you were trying to endorse from another state?

Morte, I don't think so. The woman on the help desk was able to look me up via my SSN.

Like I said (with sarcasm), "Good ol'Massachusetts."

I went back to the BON (Mass.gov) website and confirmed what I thought I had read, "licenses should appear online within 3 business days." I called back and this time my call went to voicemail, which offered different info. It said to call PCS at an 877 number where I spoke to someone completely removed from the MA BON. She too was able to look me up by SSN and stated my license should already have posted and that she would have the issue resolved in 24 hours.

Had I listened to the moron employed by the state of Mass., I would have waited 4-6 weeks only to find out then that there was an error and then wait again for it to be resolved.

I hope calling the aforementioned Mass State employee a moron is not too harsh to post here, it's just I had a similar situation when registering to test with my name change and am beyond frustrated. I already hold a PN License under my married name/same name on my drivers license and attached to my SSN, but somehow they authorized me to test under my maiden name and no one could figure out how to fix this for the longest time!

If anyone reads this, the answer to my licensing delay was described to be a "computer glitch." It took 3 days to fix and they were not even aware of it until I called. So, definitely call if you think something is up!

I actually had a very similar issue with MA BON. I took my boards in the 2nd and passed. I finally spent a lot of time calling this Monday. When I finally spoke to someone with the BON they told me in fact my license should have posted and the issue was with PCS not clearing me in the computer sysytem.

I called PCS, and the issue was taken care of later that day. Not sure why you got a totally differnt answer from someone at the BON. But I am glad you finally got it fixed.
