The Haute Nurse
1 Post
Hello Nursing Community!
I am a RN BSN in New York City. It has been a dream of mine to get into the OR, however because there are so many experienced nurses in the metro area who already have operating room experience, obtaining a surgical position has been impossible. In order to accomplish my career goals, I am seriously considering getting my scrub tech degree so that when I submit my resume or talk to a nurse recruiter, I can say yes, I do have actual experience and training in the OR (because let's face it, nursing school these days gives their students enough practical skills to make them essentially highly educated nursing assistants). I guess what I am hoping for is the best of both worlds when it comes to being a registered nurse with the training to scrub and the ability to circulate and make myself more marketable.
Sound off: Good idea? Bad idea? Worth it the money and sacrifice? Thanks in advance for your thoughts
