RN to BSN or MSN

Published

I am a Registered Nurse with a BS in Health Care Management. My nursing is an ADN. My long term goal is FNP. I am wanting to know the best route for me to take. I am looking at several RN to BSN programs. Can anyone who has done an online program please post information on the one they did. I prefer an accelerated program. Specifically looking at University of Jacksonville. Anyone know anything about that program?

I am at University of Nebraska Medical Center. It was the best choice out there for me, not everyone though.

Pros:

7 classes to obtain degree which can be done in a year (since you have a BS already you more than likely have all the pre-reqs to apply)

completely online

awesome teaching staff

required books are not as expensive as my other schooling

cheap instate tuition

Cons:

high out of state tuition (i pay 771/credit hour currently)

no face time at all

some classes require proctored testing which can cost some money depending where you find a proctor

there are group projects which can be difficult when the group lives far apart and cannot meet up

one required class is an independent study class offered through a sister school but financial aid does not cover this class since it is not through UNMC

Another college a lot of my classmates went to was Western Governors University. You pay a flat tuition and take as many classes as you want during the term. You pass the class when you pass the "competencies." I do not know much more about that program as I was accepted into my program at that time but a lot of people are happy with their program.

I hope that you find a program that you will like a lot. :)
