hello, i'm starting community college this august and planning on majoring in nursing. due to all the pre-requisites, it should take a while to complete them. my question is, should i get my ADN and then enroll in a rn-bsn program or should i transfer without an associates??? i'm leaning more towards getting my adn first in case i have to work (i dont plan to until i get my bachelors but u never know)..i do prefer the shorter route..but idk which one it is..??? what are your comments?? ive noticed the curriculum for each are very different from each other.. do regular bsn programs have more clinical rotations?? really whats the difference??
thank you for taking the time to respond.:)

It's way to early to make specific decisions about your degree. In my opinion, you need to keep all your options open, and see if you even like the science classes. So once you finish your pre-reqs and are witing to get into ADN programs and, try taking the required pre-BSN classes like Statistics, Lifespan Development, Nutrition, Organic Chemistry. You can also take online pharmacology and pathophysiology. Keeping busy helps make the time pass while you are waiting to get in. You are also widing you education and options which will be beneficial when you do get into a nursing program. Also if you have the opportunity to be an supplement instructor for anatomy, phys, or micro, I highly recommended. It gives you a much better understanding of a subject when you have to explain it to others. The subject of what is better (ADN or BSN) has been discussed several times on this forum, so I would search what others have previously written. Good luck.
i kno it seems like its way to early but everyone tells us the sooner the better..i mean if i wana transfer in two yrs (which i do) i have to start applying to universitys next year!! so there basically is no time!! and youre right i might not even end up liking the classes but i need to be prepared in case i do..
i want to get my bsn..i just dont know if i should get my adn FIRST or jus transfer without it..
but thankyou for the feedback!!!! i appreciate it! =)
At this point everything will be a moving target for you. Good experience to learn how to deal with uncertainties. When you get ready to apply to ADN programs you'll realize how in demand they all are. That's when you'll decide which program to accept.
