Riverside Regional- Hampton Roads VA

Published

Hello VA nurses!

Do any of you work at Riverside in Newport News?? I got a job offer there on a Med/Surg unit. I am a new grad.

I also have a jog offer at Eastern State doing RN recruting and promotions for the hospital.

I am trying to determine from those who work at Riverside if they like it. I have to make a decision. I do have a health problem that may limit me to work the floor... so I do not want to throw away the Eastern State job.

Those at Riverside, do you like it??

Much thanks! Epona :clown:

I'm still trying to get in school so I have no pointer. But did want to say congrats on graduating and getting a job!!!

Thank you! Oh.. and I like your log on name!

I just started working for Riverside on 8/31/09 and I love it. I am in the home health office up the street from the hospital. I am also a new grad RN. they seem to really look for their employees and the training is wonderful thus far.

I am interested in working at Riverside Regional and I graduate in May and am currently on the job hunt. I got an email from HR to schedule a phone interview for the month of March or April but I am not sure what will come from it because there aren't very many new graduate jobs posted on the website right now. It is supposed to be good for 1 year but I wanted to know from the new grads employed there how soon you heard back from them after applying. Did you have face to face interviews with nurse managers/ HR or phone interviews? Any advice for the interviews process? I would like to work at Riverside and would love any help :).

A couple of things. I worked homecare for years. I do find it somewhat scary for new grads with limited assessment skills working in home care. Make sure you get a really good preceptor, great orientation, and lots of support. There are many lawsuits nowadays and you are truly on your own. I have also worked at Riverside and there are many new grads and limited experienced nurses. this was somewhat scary too. some of the units are great and others not so much.
