Hello! :) I am currently finishing up my pre-reqs for the RN program, but I am still quite debating on taking either AMY 2A with Micro or Amy 2B with Micro in the same semester? I have already taken Chem 2A and Bio 34(human genetics). I have heard that AMY 2A requires much more memorization than 2B, but I also have heard that 2B is much more intense. I really want to finish my pre-reqs by this upcoming spring, as I only have these 3 classes, plus psych 9 and political science to finish. So far I have a 4.0 gpa on my General Ed, qualify for low-income/first generation college grad, and am a fluent spanish speaker. I am really hoping to pursuit my dream of becoming a nurse. Any advice would be greatly appericated! Thank you!

Hey there! I have no experience with the teachers or how RCC works (but I will find out as I got accepted to their program) but I can give you my experience. I am assuming AMY2b is physio? If so, then I would do physio and micro over anatomy and micro. Too much memorization. I have done both micro and physio in the same semester. It was hard work. Teachers I had wanted us to succeed and did not make these classes a walk in the park. I basically had very little life beyond going to school 4 days a week then working the other 3 days a week. But I passed both with As.
So since you already have really good grades, I think you can handle. But don't slack off. The sciences are big deals because not only are they big pre reqs but the units are more and therefore your GPA can screw up if your grades isn't good enough.
Good luck

Well from what I heard, AMY 2A consists of cellular and molecular level, bones, tissues, muscles, eye, and ear. Amy 2B consists of all the systems; Nervous, Cardiovascular, ect. I am not sure whether memorization is also involved in AMY 2B, as it might also consists identifying all the parts of an organ or organ system?
Yes I heard all science classes are no walk in the park, but I think with strong dedication and motivation it is possible to successfully complete them as you did!
:-) I will end up taking Amy 2B, with Micro and Psy 9 in the spring, as those two are much more similar in terms of identifiying the systems a pathogen is affecting. Plus I will be much more familiar with the testing styles of A&P :-). Best of luck to you in Nursing school!
Thanks :)
See where I did my pre reqs one class was only anatomy and the other class was physio. I think your is anatomy and physio combined going over some organs and systems while anatomy and physio 2 is the other half. Very interesting. Since I took anatomy, was all memorization with very little critical thinking involved. Where as physio was about a lot of pathways and not much memorization (basically the terms you used in anatomy translated over with very little new ones). Since yours is divided, I do not know how that would be with micro. Micro was definitely the funnest of the three sciences, so I think you will enjoy it. Anatomy was interesting and physio was very boring to me.
IMO AMY2a sounds like it would be easier with micro. The bones and muscles and tissues are basically memorization while the other stuff like nervous and cardio deal with a lot of pathways.
I would say play by your style of learning. If you are good with memorization and have a good photographic memory, I would pic AMY2a with micro. If your more of a critical thinker (which is really helpful once your in nursing school) then I would do AMY2b with micro.
I was more of a critical thinker so that is why I picked micro and physio.
But its up to you! Just work hard (as I know you will) and ace all of them.
