I'm interested in info from students that are actually in Rio's program or have completed it... can you please tell us about your good or bad experiences?... and if you would recommend the program to motivated self learners?
This is an interesting option for me because I work full-time and get very little from "classroom" time. I'm not interested in going to school and listening to someone read off powerpoints for hours on end... I'd much rather just read them and the books myself. I don't find the material challenging when I have the time to read it... but I do find going to class itself challenging and wasting time I could be studying.
I've taken online classes before but I'm concerned about obligating to an entire program. My main concerns are about labs, clinicals, etc.
If you don't want to post on a public forum please PM me... thanks

While I am not in their nursing program, I am doing my pre-reqs at Rio Salado. I also learn better teaching myself, because it forces you to read the books cover to cover. I find all my classes, bio, math, terminology, etc.. it is absolutely pertinent to read EVERYTHING. So, I feel like I am learning a lot through Rio.
The only thing I'd be concerned with with the Rio Nursing program is that they may overload you with course work. Regular Rio classes are like 2x the amount of a regular class.. so not sure if the nursing would be the same.
Hopefully someone will enlighten us..

I'm in the same boat! I'm taking PSY101 right now (working retail during the holidays makes it hard to take more classes sadly) at Rio and plan to do all the pre-reqs there. Hopefully, by the time I'm actually IN nursing school I can not work full time and go to an in-person style nursing program... I am curious as well about the Rio program and how that works and if anyone has tips/feedback...
Since no one answered the thread that is in or has completed the program, I think I'll shy away from that route.

I am a new Nursing Student I am taking my pre reqs at Rio as well. I will be transferring out to a local college though in GA for my Nursing classes. I have taken several course prior to this online line and did not like the school admin staff. My tution was high, and I never had the chance to speak with a academic counselor. However, at Rio I have had nothing but good experience so far. I also found out ahead of time that my courses will transfer into a 2 or 4 year school here so that was great.
