Hello ? decided to create a thread for those applying to the Rio Hondo 2021 ADN program!

Just submitted my application yesterday.

The anticipation is killing me!

I think if you didn’t get one today, you didn’t get in. We’ll get something official saying so in November.

I received my letter at 3:09pm today. My stats: 

Science GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: ~2.9

TEAS: 90.7% 

AA and BA degree 

CMA/CPT. w/ 4+ years of work experience

4 life experiences

I was so nervous about applying for school because of my overall GPA. It was not very competitive but I worked hard to get a good TEAS score to make up for it. For those of you who didn't get letter, I strongly encourage you to keep on trying. I've been denied to various other programs and was convinced by friends to keep on trying. Please hear me out when I say that you will make it just be patient and persevere! I am 33 years old and barely going into a nursing program. I wasn't always the best student which made me work harder in my later years. Don't compare yourself to others, you are on your own timeline and everything will happen when it's supposed to! Take care and good luck in your future endeavors!

Congratulations to everyone who got in! ?  For anyone who didn’t get a letter today, I read that they do random selection for applicants that have the same points (was wondering why I wasn’t accepted b/c I have pretty much the same stats as those who got in), so don’t feel too bummed out (this is me trying to make myself feel better) ?

Gonna keep my fingers crossed for at least one acceptance with all of my other applications. Good luck to everyone ! ??

Congratulations to everyone that got in! I wanted to post my stats for future applicants for reference. I got an email at 3:52pm: 

Science GPA: 4.0

Overall GPA: 3.2 or 3.3 honestly not sure aha 

TEAS: 86%

BS Degree

Volunteer Experience

2 life experiences

I believed it was the first generation essay that gave me the extra boost. During this process, we easily get caught up in the moment and compare ourselves to others based on their timeline but you are on your own path! Don't doubt yourself just yet, I'm super excited for everyone and good luck! ?
