Right Decision

I need HELP!!! Selected a company, got an interview and job offer in the area I was looking for. Here's the problem. Now I'm second guessing myself. I haven't seen a my contract yet. I have jumped through all of their hoops and I am scheduled to start on Mon. 9/8. Base pay $27.00, taking subsidy increases rate to $35.00 (will be working in TN). I have to have insurance so there is an additional expense. I guess what I'm asking is did I jump before I looked and any suggestions on what I should do? Working with RNNetwork, but also have applications with Nurse Choice, Travel Nurses Across American and AMN. I need imput!

Thanks

Well, first, you are under no obligation to take the position without having a signed contract. The company you are with is notorious for trying to make you believe you have entered into a verbal contract; but, they are wrong since they did not discuss all the things you will see in the written contract with you when you accepted the job.

Next, that is a horrible rate of pay for a traveler. It should be $32.00-$35.00 per hour without the subsidy.

Also, you need to educate yourself about travel nursing. Try other forums and websites. A few that come to mind are delphiforums (travel nurse and therapists), travelnurse toolbox, ultimate nurse.com, pantravelers.org, highway hypodermics...

Finally, the list of agencies you mention are not the greatest. Some listed have the nickname 'evil empire.' If you do some research & know what is most important to you (re: location, housing, pay, shift, etc), you are sure to find better companies/recruiters to work with.

Last, I promise- always, always, go with your gut instinct. Every time I did not, I wound up in trouble.

Thanks for the advice. I have and continue to visit the websites you have mentioned. I have talked with several former travelers, (the worked with AMN). With all the different companies out there it's hard to know which one is right. As a new traveler it's hard to understand the best way to go to increase your take home pay. I definitly don't want to get hit with a big tax bill. I'm trying to educate myself but the information that is out there is crazy. Travel Nurses Across America will promise guaranted hours in writing. I really want to do this but my head is spinning. At least I know that they can't force me into anything with out a signed contract. I appreciate the imput. Thanks
