Depending on where you live, you may have to wait a few weeks between scheduling the test and actually testing. When I scheduled, the next available test date was 3 weeks away. I would take the review course, and then schedule your test. I did Kaplan to review, and it was hard. I think Kaplan was harder than the NCLEX! But dont schedule your test until YOU feel ready, even if you have pressure from your new job.

My class just graduated at the end of Aug, 2010. A lot of us are taking a review class before scheduling the NCLEX as we took a BSN and many of the classes were so long ago. I have a job offer at a place where I work and the job letter says to contact them as soon as I schedule the test. I don't really want to take the test right out of the review class as the instructor says reviewing the notes for a week or so after it really increases the chances of success on the test. I feel like if I schedule the test and tell the facility where I have the job offer, that there will be a lot of pressure to get the test over with so that I can start before I feel ready. Now I am just saying that my paperwork is not completed (we all know how that works, right?). I wanted opinions about when I should let my facility know about my test. It is probably another 3 weeks before I will even feel ready. Because the health system starts new employees at the beginning of the month this may put off telling them about the test so that I start in November. I feel guilty about taking the time but I really want to sit for the NCLEX only once. Thanks.
