There are just too many variables to provide an answer. How long have you been out of nursing? Do you still feel "burned out"? What type of work were you doing in the interim? Have you done any preparation to ready you for a return to nursing?
Some generalities... check your state's rules & regs to determine if there are any requirements for returning to work. Some states mandate a refresher course if you've been out of nursing for a specific time period. If you have been out of nursing for 'a while', you could be coming back to a very different world in terms of technology, workload, administrative demands, etc. I think it's always best just to be honest. It's pretty easy for any nurse to understand that need to take a break in order to re-charge your emotional and physical batteries. Keeping in mind that the break may have re-set your 'experience' back quite a few years in terms of salary scale, I would encourage you to explore all options if you really want to get back in the saddle.
