resume question

im a new nurse, graduated may 2011. been working for 6 months. The resume i was using had my clinicals listed with a little detail to show "some" experience. my question is now that i have worked as a nurse for 6 months, do i take those clinicals off my resume? thanks for any advise.

Yes. I think you should take most of them off.

But ... if you are going to apply for a job in which one of those clinicals was especially relevant, you might want to include that one clinical experience -- clearly labeling it as a student experience that you had while in school.

You might also leave on any really "special" ones that are unusual or particularly in-depth, such as a senior year capstone experience. You might leave that on for a little while longer. For example, you might say:

BSN, May 2010 XYZ University. Senior capstone experinece in the spring of 2010 consisting of 150 hours of preceptored clinical practice on the ABC unit of DEF Hospital.

... and BTW: I think it is great that you are updating your resume. I think everyone should do that every 6 months or so. That way, important information is not lost/forgotten ... and the resume is always ready when you need it.

Rather than removing it from your resume, maybe you should abbreviate the section. Move in under your education heading and list something like:

Nursing University DEC 2010, BSN, GPA. X.X

Clinical experience: Med/Surg 250 hours. Pediatrics/obstetrics 250 hours. 150 hour clinical partnership ICU

I'm a new RN and I need to update my resume now. How should I place 'clinical experince' on my resume? If I put it under EDUCATION, would 'clinical experience' be CAPITALIZED, bold and underlined as well? Or should I put it in italics only?

Another problem is that I have a BS from a university that's being overshadowed by all the 'clinical experience' (I took out the peds,ob, and geriatric clinicals because I didn't think it was relevant). What should I do to make that stand out? So far my resume looks like this:
